Whether you are just starting out or trying to improve, our teachers at Cheltenham Lido can help you.
We understand that everyone has different abilities, and our teachers will work with you to improve on specific skills and fitness.
I am a qualified teacher with many years experience in Gloucestershire schools – Having retired from ‘the classroom’ I transferred my knowledge and skills to the sport I have always loved, swimming! I now focus teaching skills to ensure swimmers make progress.
I love swimming teaching because It’s a life skill, and a sport that is truly accessible for all ages and all abilities. I enjoy making a difference and ensuring people make progress and enjoy seeing their confidence grow and their skills and knowledge improve.
My favourite stroke is front crawl as it’s so good for fitness, but breaststroke will always be up there – supportive and rhythmic and of course helps with lifesaving backstroke!
I have been swim teaching and coaching for 7 years. I have participated in competitive swimming and waterpolo. I started assisting at the school I trained at and then built my qualifications and experience to teach classes and 1-2-1s of all age ranges. I am also a primary school teacher so have lots of experience teaching and supporting children in developing their understanding and application of skills.I have specialised in SEND and SEMH altering my approach and lessons to meet the needs of each individual child. In addition to this I have done lots of coaching to build confidence, technique and speed for adults and teenagers to prepare for competitions or just increase swimming ability.
I love swim teaching because it’s such an important skill for everyone to have and therefore seeing a person develop their stoke and become more confident in their own abilities is so rewarding, especially when all the skills and techniques come together and form a perfect stroke. It is also a skill that can lead to so many other opportunities I believe in teaching to the interest and skills of each individual swimmer.
I have a person-centred approach and work with swimmers to enable them to identify and achieve their swimming goals and to give them the information, support and confidence they need to get whatever they want out of swimming, sharing my enjoyment and the amazing physiological and mental health benefits of swimming outdoors all year round.
I love to swim outdoors and have completed lake, river, and sea events.
I am a director of Level Water, the charity that gives children with disabilities the opportunity to learn to swim, raising funds through running iconic swim events such as the Dart 10K and the 24-hour swim series, and I have completed their certification in providing 1:1 swimming lessons for children with disabilities.
If you’re ready to improve your swimming, gain confidence, and enjoy the water like never before, I’d love to help.
Hello! I absolutely love the water and when I am not in it I am on it rowing! I enjoy working with children to find what they enjoy in the water and working on those skills to develop their passions. I teach beginners from their first time in the water through to coaching and developing strokes to either a competitive or pleasure level. I have been teaching for 6 years at a variety of pools across Gloucestershire, my favourite stroke is breast stroke and I love diving! I am enthusiastic and bring lots of energy to all of my lessons making sure that they are adapted to suit each child individually. My approach to teaching is relaxed and reassuring, making sure that all swimmers have a positive experience in the pool and want to come back for more.
In addition to my level 2 swim teaching certification, I have also been lifeguarding for many years so I have a lot of experience in that field. I’m dedicated to ensuring the safety of all my students. When I’m not in the pool, you can find me hiking, or in the gym. I look forward to working with you and helping you become a confident swimmer.

We are committed to working with parents to create a safe environment for children.
All children under the age of 8 should always be accompanied by a guardian aged 16 years or over, this person may be responsible for up to two children. Guardians must maintain constant supervision particularly in the water and changing rooms. We advise that children under the age of 5 should be supervised on a one-to-one basis.
Parents have a specific responsibility for the safety of their own children, this cannot be abdicated to lifeguards. The role of the lifeguard is to maintain a safe and healthy environment for all swimmers.
